Industrial, Air-Filtration, Scrubbers, Special Chemical Synthesis and Pharmaceutical Applications

GEO2 filters can serve as filters and catalytic hosts for numerous industrial, specialty chemical and pharmaceutical applications. Benefits include:

Low Back-pressure and High Filtration Efficiencies

GEO2’s Random Matrix Filtration system has a highly porous and distributed pore-structure that leads to high filtration efficiencies while causing low back-pressure in the exhaust flow. GEO2’s DEPTH2 depth filters are extremely efficient in separating particulates and condensed matter from nano-meter size range to > 2.5 microns.

High Conversion Efficiency per Unit of Catalyst for Reduced Costs

GEO2’s Random Matrix Filtration system can help to reduce catalytic loading while reaching higher total conversion efficiencies. The high surface area combined with controlled pore-size distribution leads to high catalytic efficiencies. Catalyst can reside deep in the filter’s random matrix with less chance of loss of efficiency from sintering. These features help to reduce both unit and system costs.

Chemical Stability

GEO2 filters and catalytic hosts are resistant to corrosion in acidic or basic chemical environments. This makes GEO2 technology ideal for use in chemically harsh (such as automotive exhaust) or sensitive (such as bioreactor) environments.

Faster Light-off Time

The low thermal mass of GEO2’s Random Matrix Filtration system can reduce the light-off time for many applications.

High Operating Temperature

The GEO2 substrate has excellent thermal shock and melting point characteristics. The substrate’s melting point is >1550 degrees C. These thermal properties allow the GEO2 substrate to be placed closer to the source of emission without risk of damage to the filter or catalyst.

Flexible Pore Structure and High Permeability

The GEO2 substrate has variable pore size distributions (15 to 80+ micron, uni-modal or bi-modal), pore shape (spherical, elongated, tubular, and other shapes), porosity (60% to 90%) and permeability to serve many filtration and catalytic host needs.
